the week ahead // what i'm watching, eating, doing

i have made the decision to start occasionally highlighting everything i'm eating, watching, and doing throughout the week. i like sharing what i'm enjoying in life, and would love to hear what you're enjoying too!

what i'm watching:

anthony bourdain: parts unknown

with the loss of anthony bourdain and the tragedies happening at our borders, it felt necessary to watch this show. parts unknown explores the far-reaching corners of the earth, with anthony sharing meals and conversations with people he has nothing in common with--except humanity. that's a lesson that many people in our country need to relearn, and this show feels incredibly important in our current landscape.

queer eye season 2

i'm not quite sure any show has ever made me cry more or harder than the netflix reboot of queer eye, and i've already talked about how much i enjoyed season 1. and confession: season 2 started on friday, and i am already finished. but that's not going to stop me from rewatching that first episode again this week. mama tammye made me sob into my opalhouse for target throw pillow on my couch on friday night, and i could use that kind of therapy again probably by midweek. these five guys are pure light and goodness and if you follow me on twitter, you saw my declaration that queer eye is now my church and jonathan is my spiritual advisor. i need season 3 now please.

riverdale season 2

riverdale is a campy, silly mess of a teen drama, and it came around at the perfect time to fill the pretty little liars shaped hole in my heart. i missed season 2 while it was airing, because i'm a ~millennial~ who doesn't have cable and i watch everything via firestick. the second season is now on netflix and i plan to catch back up with betty and veronica this week.

what i'm eating:

turkey enchiladas

i've made these turkey enchiladas many times. they're quick and easy, and the lean turkey plus the black beans make them filling but not too heavy. i use ground turkey with taco seasoning and i don't use cilantro because GROSS, but everything else is basically the same. its one of my favorite meal prep meals, with a side of rice and some lettuce and tomato on top, because it's simple, reheats well and i don't get tired of it.

chocolate chip banana bread

i like exactly nothing about bananas, but i bought some to make some dog treats for juniper breeze, and decided to make some bread with the leftovers. i also added chocolate chips to take away more of the banana taste, and it turned out pretty well. i don't have a link to the recipe because i can't figure out which one i used, but you can't really go wrong with flour and sugar, right?

overnight oats

overnight oats have become one of my favorite breakfasts lately, mostly because of ease and deliciousness. i just throw oats, almond butter, almond milk, chia seeds, cinnamon, and a hint of maple syrup into a few mason jars, stir 'em up, and i've got a tasty breakfast for the next few days. i eat them at my desk when i get to work, so they aren't super cold, but also not yet room temperature.

what i'm doing:

by hand lettering - nicole miyuki santo

nicole miyuki santo is an amazing hand letterer who created this beautiful guide to learn the art of hand lettering. after following her on instagram for a while, i purchased the book and have been slowly making my way through the lessons. i hope to speed up that progress this week and really focus on practicing, so i can give an update in a couple of weeks on the blog.

what are you watching, eating, and doing this week? are you creating anything? let me know!
