donut tour of dallas // national donut day!
happy national donut day, friends! this is def my favorite holiday, after christmas and also any day that means offices across america are closed. but at least on national donut day, maybe the chance of donuts in offices increases, right? basically, i just love donuts.
because i love donuts so much, i took a fun little donut tour around dallas, and i'm going to feature a few of those shops right here today!
WOW donuts & drips
i've followed this cute little donut and coffee shop in plano on instagram since before they opened, knowing it would be right up my alley. they have some beautiful creations in fun, creative flavors. from gummy worms and rainbows to cinnamon toast crunch and cookie butter, there are tons of delicious donuts to try every visit.
the store is also so much fun and 100% instagrammable. everything is clean white with pink and blue accents and fun words on the walls. they have several different drip coffee varieties, though i was hoping for some fun latte options, because that's just who i am.
sweet daze dessert bar
this is another place i had been meaning to visit but just never quite ventured out to that part of the metroplex. i finally made it, and i'm so happy i did! but the donuts really aren't the star of the show here. while they have galaxy and mermaid donuts, right on trend, they have so many cakes and ice creams and other desserts that its so hard to focus. but its all so pretty and colorful and definitely worth the trip to richardson.
honestly, this place is so cheery and fun, the desserts could all be super uninteresting and i would still say you should go. i mean, look at these cakes!
urban donut
this place is tucked away in a completely unassuming shop in uptown dallas, but its full of so many unique flavors. we showed up on a sunday afternoon, so the current selection was pretty thin, but what was there looked pretty delish. this was definitely the closest in vibe to your classic donut shop, which i appreciated.
this was also the only place that we tried anything savory, and the sausage kolache, made with croissant dough, was up there with some of the best.
top pot
this adorable little shop on lower greenville was hands down my favorite. it had the most traditional donut varieties, which honestly, is all i want. the cinnamon sugar yeast donut was out of this world and definitely my favorite bite of the entire tour.
i also got a vanilla latte at this stop and it did not disappoint. it wasn't overly sweet, which i hate when i already have a sweet donut with my coffee.
and that is it for round one of the dallas donut tour. there are obviously tons more shops to visit and tons more donuts to taste, but as a closing thought for national donut day 2018, a quote from my mom, who i dragged to a couple of these stops.
